HOW TO PROPERLY ADJUST YOUR SAFETY HELMET

Share article:

Properly adjusting a safety helmet is crucial to ensure both safety and comfort while working. A well-fitted helmet protects your head effectively and minimizes the risk of injury in case of accidents. In this guide, we will describe how to adjust your safety helmet in the best way.

ADJUSTING THE HEADBAND

To fit the helmet, start by lowering the headband from the storage position (1) to the usage position. The Zone Standard and Zone Electro models have two (2) usage positions, while the Zekler Mips has five (2-5) usage positions.

Adjust the height and locate the adjustment knob on the back of the helmet. By turning this knob, you can adjust the fit so that the helmet sits snugly but comfortably around your head. Check that the size is correctly set by shaking your head. The helmet should not move in any direction.

For models like the Zekler Zone Standard and Zekler Zone Electro, you can also adjust the headband's size at the seam near the ear protection openings. By unclipping and moving the two parts at the seam, you can decrease or increase the headband’s fit. For an optimal fit, the headband can also be adjusted vertically at the front in four positions. On the sides, near the ear protection openings, there are two parts that can be unclipped and moved to increase or decrease the headband’s fit.

ADJUSTING THE CHIN STRAP

The chin strap on a safety helmet plays an important role in the helmet’s stability and safety. The chin strap should pass under the chin and fit close to the skin without choking or hanging too loose. Use the adjustment clips to shorten or lengthen the chin strap.

To ensure the chin strap is properly adjusted, do the following test: Make sure you can fit one finger between your chin and the chin strap, then open your mouth wide and check that the helmet pulls down. This indicates that the chin strap is correctly adjusted. It is also important that the chin strap forms a "Y" under the ears to avoid conflict with hearing protection.

When using the helmet for the first time, adjust the straps so they fit snugly below the ears. Use the movable buckles to form a "Y" below the earlobe. If ear protection is used, adjust the straps to avoid gaps under the muffs. The strap should sit under the jaw, against the neck, and the buckle should not rest against the jaw. Adjust the strap so that it fits just right.
